Question I can only hear things in mono..help please

HI, This is my 1st post. I have a layla sound card & a behringer 802 mixer. I am using Cakewalk pro audio 9.

When I record, I use Layla 1/2 Left input, when I playback, on the cakewalk console the led meter shows output on the left and righ t side. I am plugging my headphones into the left monitor out on the layla. When I playback and pan to the left I get sound, when I pan top the right, nothing!! I still get nothing when I plug the phones into the right monitor out.

Do i need to be using monitors instead of headphones when I mix? Is there any way to mix using headphones and be able to pan left and right?

I only get sound on one side of the phones no matter what I try.

Any help/insight will be appreciated!

Mr. SM 57

It sounds like you answered your own question.

>I am plugging my headphones into the left monitor out on the layla.

That's your left stereo channel. The other one is the right stereo channel. Thus, you need both to get stereo. Also, it's a line level output (right?) so you need to hook that up to a line input, like a power amp and us the headphone jack on that one if you want to use headphones.
