I just bought a sytek mpx4a mic pre for $395 on ebay.

List is $1480. four channels of high quality preamplification.

Wow. What ws even more interesting is that 7 people were battling for the exact same model, currently at $711. This guy just put this up today, and it did not even show up when I did a search.

How lucky am I. Hey, If anybody knows anything bad about this pre, please tell me so that I will know what to do . The reviews seem to be overwhelming though.

Very nice set of pres man, great buy.. See if channel 3 and 4 have the burr brown chip inside. If so you are rocking! 3 and 4 will have a totally different sound than 1 and 2... I love the ones I use.

I've had to battle it out for a Roland PG-800 programmer (for an MKS-70 analog synth module) on Ebay for weeks. I finally got one but spent more than I would have liked. They seem to be in high demand.

I have an 8 bus StudioMaster Console. I like it better than a Mackie, Nice Eq and quiet. Direct outs on every channel, built in slate tone and talk back. And its expandable if you buy the side car. Nice desk.

thanks for the info. This one is already expanded and looks really good. I was reading some specs and signal to noise is only about -90dbs.

I havenot got the pre yet. I sent payment today. I should have it next week. You can be sure that checking for the bur brown chip will be the first thing I will do.

I have a studiomaster diamond 16-2.. durable and perfect for my needs.. and if there IS any noise generating from the console then it's completely undetectable to my ears..

What the deal with the Burr Brown chips? Seen the name a few times recently. Gonna look around for some info, if anyone has any, let me know whats up with them. I read somewhere that replacing something in the Presonus mp20 class-A preamps with burr brown whatevers makes it sound fantastic.
