Event 20/20's

Hey all...

Is there REALLY a huge difference between the 20/20 and the 20/20bas? I have a fairly nice Carver cube power amp, and am thinking of saving the extra dough by buying the 20/20's (non-powered) instead of the 20/20bas. But I of course don't want to do so if they are completely inferior.

Thanks for any help...

I have the 20/20 . I have heard other monitors, but these rock. I think powered speakers are better, overall. But I have heard the 20/20 bas at the Guitar Center and don't hear a huge difference.

Elle,

Thanks for the comments. I had been talking with a guy who says that the 20/20's are way hyped and are not accurate. He claims that my NS-10M's are much much more accurate than the 20/20's. So I'm not sure what to think. I've got a nice power amp, so I was trying to find an inexpensive, but full sounding speaker (the NS-10's are WAYYY of in the bass ranges) and thought maybe the 20/20's would be a good choice.

Well bud, all I can say is do your homework. This gear stuff isn't cheap!

Those NS-10s, the ones they don't make anymore? The non powered NS-10s, have been blasted on so many different forums it isn't funny.

The 20/20s have an 8" woofer, bigger the woofer, bigger bass sound.

Try to listen to them somewhere. Good luck!

Elvis,
I have the 20/20 (non-powered), and love them! Compare these to NS10's? No comparison! I don't think there is much difference in sound between the 20/20 and the 20/20BAS.
If you choose the 20/20's you won't be disappointed.

Bob,

Thanks for the comments... I wound up buying a pair of the non-powered 20/20's used from a guy. I got them for about $70 below catalog price ($225) and he claims they are immaculate... in fact never used.

I'm just waiting for them to arrive to try them out.

Great! Now go out and buy the heaviest Monster cable you can afford for them- when I went to heavy cable it made all the difference. Happy tracking!

As a matter of fact, I am also using heavy pro cable that I got from my boyfriend who installs home theater systems professionally.
