Event 20/20bas or Mackie HD824

I posted this in mixing/mastering, but it may have been the wrong forum. I'll try here.

Has anyone tried them both? I have Event 20/20's, but I think they tend to rattle a bit too much on low end. (I'm always hearing the cone make funny noises on the bass - that's what I get for loaning them out)

But I've read very good things about the Mackie monitors, so I'm wondering if anyone would ever choose them over Event 20/20's (I know they're about $200 more a speaker then the Event's, but prorec.com has the highest praise for them.)
