Recording with LAYLA

I'm wondering what level other people run there layla using the echo console, and if you use the trim and why?, and what kind of external mixer do you use with your layla?

I use a Alesis studio 24 right now, and in echo console I useally have my levels at 5

Plus what is the real difference between
the -10dBV and the +4dBV?

And I have another problem when I try to play back midi on the midi out on the layla, it skips and only plays half the notes and sustains ones that aren't supposed to be, it really sounds messed up, anyone have that same problem?
