i'm putting together a mobile recording rig based on an adat. does anyone have some experiance here? i'm looking for gear suggestions that will stand up to club environments. especially mic-pre's and compression tips for live recording.

Cool You just need a mixer with direct outs..

I made a decent live recording of a local Jazz band, using just one ADAT and a medium sized mixer with direct outs. No compression was added during the original recording. I still had plenty of control over EQ and levels later during the mixdown.

It just depends on how critical you are, but I don't have the high dollar Mic preamps. If I did then I would probably notice the difference. Honestly I don't think most people can hear the subtle differences in equipment. I am going to have fun with what I have right now while I save up the bucks for the high end gear!

Sincerely;

Dom Franco
