Question radio station coming through keyboard

I have a Yamaha PSR 530 that has built in stereo speakers. When i connect it to my Tascam 788 I pick up a local radio staion that bleeds into my mix. It dosent happen with my other synths(without bulit in speakers). Any way to filter out the radio station? I dont use the keyboard that much but it does have some cool features I could utilize.

Thanks

That is typically a sign of a bad cable or cold solder joint in the connector. Try a new cable and see if it improves.

Air manuvers

I took my rig to summer camp when I was about 13.

Just so I could practice (this was sleep away).

Once, I plugged in and heard Air Force pilots practicing manuvers. It was like right outta Spinal Tap, only it was a good 10 years before Spinal Tap.

When it happened to Nigil, I turned to my friends during the film and asked them to remind them to tell them this story.

More common than you think.Make sure everything is plugged into a single power strip on a single circuit. No flourescent lights.Cables run parallel not crossing each other.Build a faraday cage like Gene Hackman in Enemy Of The State.

Try a new cord...

1st try a new cord, if it still picks up radio signals try
adding another "Earth ground"

You can use any single conductor wire with an aligator clip at both ends; attach to the shield of the audio cable coming out of your keyboard and connect the other end to some thing grounded. (The center screw of a wall outlet) the chassis of another piece of equipment.

If your keyboard has a headphone out, try using it. Still noisy?

Have fun;

Dom Franco

Often times, due to coditions such as weather etc, these problems disappear on their own.

Also try moving the keyboard. You might be able to clear it up by moving it only a little.

Here's a suggestion you may not have thought of. Call the
station and ask for the cheif engineer. I recall working for
a 50 thousand watt AM station in Chicago in the 70's. We were
in a residential neighborhood in Des Plaines, near Ohair airport
with the nearest house only a few yards away.

One day I was walking by and heard the Cheif engineer talking to someone on the phone. It was a listener who was receiving the station on his/her phone. The engineer told me that they often went out to the homes and put "suppressors" on the phones.
Now, I don't know what a suppressor is but I do know that the cheif engineer of any station will have had a lot more experience dealing with this very problem than probably anyone on this board. Good luck with this.
