Promotion...

My question is,
as someone looking for new band members,
and hence unable to travel/ play touring shows at present,

what suggestions are out there for trying to promote a CD around the continent?

I'm planning to send CD's to college stations...

but I wondered if there is helpful advice available to make the CD look playable, as opposed to looking like something to throw away.
