Anyone going to IN to see Eddie Kramer ?

I was just wondering if anyone was going to Sweetwater in IN. to see Eddie Kramer do a workshop on mixing? Best part is it's free!! He has worked with Hendrix, The Stones, & Led Zeppelin just to name a few. I'm excited about going. I know he'll be telling so many cool stories and giving insights to his success in the music business.

When I was in recording school 12 years ago he came and did a workshop with us. He's a fascinating guy, and a superb producer/engineer. It's well worth your time to check it out and watch how he works. You'd learn a lot, or at least have a great time. I'd go down if I could.

Yes, I'm very excited to meet someone that has shaped the very foundation of Rock & Roll music. It should be very informative.

If it's the same thing he did in Phoenix a couple of weeks ago, then expect it to be more of an infomercial for his new WAVE plug ins, than giving you mixing lessons and insight.

There were a few stories, but mostly it was plug in demos.

It dragged on a bit long. He did do a Q & A at the end.

Ahh bummer, when he came to see us he wasn't selling anything. I assume he was paid for the appearance, but that's it. It was very cool.

Thumbs up

I just got back from the workshop and I had a blast. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting. When Eddie was introduced he gave a brief background and jumped into his VST plug ins. He gave some good examples of what his products can do, I was impressed even tho I'm not much of a digital person. The good news for me and my analog friends is that he still tracks to tape, dumps to the box, and sometimes back to analog for some final mastering. He said digital is good, but he would never abandon analog. He was very funny and had some good stories to tell. All in all it was an informative session.

Hey....glad to hear you enjoyed the "event", dodge.

The thing that was ridiculous to me was that for that plug in demos:

They would play the track first without the plug in for reference and then play it back with the plug in...and plug in playback would be like twice as loud as the unprocessed track!!!

Eddie Kramer: "So here's the track without processing."

(Sound is soft)

Eddie Kramer: "Now let's hear it with the plug in."

(Sound is blasting)

Eddie Kramer: "BAM!!!! hahaha.....so audience?!?!?!? Which version do you like better?!?!?!? A (unprocessed track - soft)?

Or B?!?!?!?!?!?!? (plug in track that is many decibels louder than the other)"

Gee....I wonder which one the audience chose as sounding better everytime? Woohoo....go Eddie!!!!

I wanted more stories.....less biased demos.

And Eddie is off to Europe, darrin...no plans for KC at this time.

Anyways....it's all good.

I'm not sure of his schedule. I think he has his own web site As far as the plug in package was concerned I found it on the Waves site for a meager $800.00 For software?? I don't think so.
