Krakit, I got a flyer from guitar center today, it doesnt have a date, so I assume it is valid now. It is on Page 51 of their monthly "catalog", which I get because I am a Preferred Customer(Read: Gear Slut)
The Alesis Air FX=$149 LX20 ADAT Demo $799 I think the best deal is the demo Nanosynth for $49. I have one, and it aint no Kurzweil, but think of how many folks are buying Casio's for $200 when they can get a fully functioning synth for $49 bucks. Now if I can only sell my noisy Quadraverb, or the Broken RA-100 amp in my closet......... |

Just as much a slut as you are!
I get these crack samples too. ::flips to page 51::
I'll be damned! Never saw the small print. I'm gonna have to pay another visit over there! I still have some store credit to spend.

I just bought the QS8.1 (floor model) for $1099 at GC
Now I am looking at a pair of M1 Actives (floor model but barely touched at local guitar shop)......$299 for the pair I know their are alot of members who regard these as junk but I need something and these sound great to me (just listened to Steely Dan's latest) |

Don't mean to burst your bubble, But Sammy's demo LX's (the ADAT not the car
) go for 650 to 700 low hours (5-24). |

Well, I called some connections and there are no Nanobass or Nanosynth modules left anywhere!
I'll bet we see a ton show up on eBay over the next month or so.

me snag a masterlink
Even if you get into the shortcomings listed by guys like Sonusman, $999 for a Masterlink is almost as good a deal as any CD burner or DAT machine...that's just too good a price.

frederic, my amp was never good from the get-go. I know nothing about electronics, but there seemed to be a "short"? in the volume knobs. I would have it set on 3, and occasionally if I adjusted the volume the slightest, it would blare at full blast, then would come back if I adjusted it again.
Recently, the right side would barely work, and I would have to turn it up high to equal the left side, and the right would clip, even though it wasnt loud at all. Finally it just stopped working, I assume it is just a fuse, but I put it in the closet and am using a piece of crap Sony receiver to power my cool Tannoys until I fix the amp or get a new one. |

Hi, DavidK,
It could be something as easy to fix as a cold solder joint on the PCB. Even if the channel went bad, it should not be hard to repair. Mike |

Hi Mike, thanks for the info. I play classical violin for a living, so for you to talk about PCB and solder joints is like me talking about Bartok string Quartets and the Elliot Carter Duo, or perhaps Peter Maxwell Davies " Eight songs for a mad King", which nobody in this forum has ever heard.I have no clue as to what a PCB is.
I actually enjoy Alesis Products very much: I have owned a MMT8, a drum machine, Microverb, Quadraverb, Nanosynth, etc, and the only product I had a problem with is the RA 100. The only alesis product I had a problem with is the RA 100, so I think that is a pretty decent testamonial. I actually think the Nanosynth is the most underrated synth of all time; I got one for $179 and there are some patches on that thing that are amazing. I have not lost faith in Alesis, and I hope you come back stronger than ever. Its too bad I got a shit RA 100, but I still make use of my other Alesis gear. |

Still some great deals for the determined
I couldn't resist a NanoBass at $19.95 even if it didn't work. I figured I could bring it home and fix it myself. It had no audio out, or I should say it had a 60 cycle hum that was not affected by the volume control. All of the midi communication and patch editing was functional, just no audio.
Looking at the board, there was a suspiciously large transistor in one corner that I figured might be the amplifier. I called Alesis to verify this (and order another if my suspicions were correct). To make along story short... they told me that they warranty from sales date, not manufacture date, and would fix the NanoBass free regardless of its non-operational demo status at time of purchase. I once again stopped at GC on the way home from work and talked them down to 49.99 on the NanoSynth, which was also broken. Both units are now on the way to Alesis for repair and I'm only out $70.00 for both pieces. I can only hope that they aren't sitting in a dusty warehouse two months from now waiting for the walls to come down. There's still demo equipment out there, just thought I'd relate my own experience if anyone wants to try the same. BTW, I also picked up a DM Pro (nice sound module, great layers) for $300. I had bought a DM-5 two months ago, so now I've got that extra if anyone's interested. |

I bought 2 LX-20's from GC for $900 each. They had to pull them in from other stores so it took about 2 weeks to get them. They were both sold to me as NEW.
I opened both boxes in the store one was obviously used. I argued and argued that I was sold NEW units, not demos, not used. They said I had every right to not accept it, and if I did, 30 days to bring it back for full refund. I also talked them into giving me 2 sync cables to shut me up. The new deck was great. The used deck made horrible noises in rewind and fast forward. Analog in 3 was dead. I took it back, got a check on the spot and went to Sweetwater to get a replacement. |

snicker, snicker
I had GC pull the same stunt on me with the Masterlink...a new one came in - got it to my place, realized it had been opened and no extras (like the remote) -
Took it back, swapped it for an unopened one that was missing a manual. Guess I shouldn't bitch too badly. It was a blowout. RB |
