Looking for a 488 !

I am new to this forum, and am looking for suggestions as to where to find a 488. I bought a DP01 a few years ago, with much reservation, & just lost about 4 years of recordings that I did with my sons. Need to get back to cassette recording.

Thanks!
Bill Brown

Bill,

Welcome!

eBay and craigslist seem to be the preferred places to look for these items.

You may also want to add the 688 and 238 to your list since they are compatible with the 488. The 688 is a Portastudio like the 488 but has a much advanced mixing section and can record 8-tracks simultaneously. The 238 is a standalone 8-track cassette deck so you'll need an external mixer but it offers the best quality potential depending on the external mixer used.

Feel free to post here if you find a unit you are considering and want opinions about it.

Good luck!
