Any Aussie Multitrack Users Here

Asking as I recently acquired 18 reels of various tape 2" 1" and 1/2". I brought it at the right price just to get the reels (read cheap). Thought I Would just change the centers and get some shorter fasteners. Received them last Friday but had a quick look and found the first reel is 2" Ampex 499 complete with a tape protection band. The reel pack looks good and the reel is in really good condition. Just thought it would be a crime to dump this tape just for the reel as I am only a hobbyist with 1/4" tape machines. I need to go through the rest and check it out but there are 5 or 6 - 2" reels at least 1 - 1" reel and the rest are 1/2". Most of the 1/2" appear to be 478 digital tape. The tapes are all dated 1993 and all contain what I think must be masters for a Kate Cebrano album. Don't mind a bit of her music but a multitrack machine for home listening is a bit over the top. Give us a yell if you can use this stuff
Cheers
G

Gamve,

There's a couple of us "locals" hang in here .

If the content on the tapes is what you think, I'd be wondering why is was being sold off and whether the person selling it had the (legal) right to do so.

Obviously the dates on the tapes mean there may be sticky shed issues and without baking, they may be bloody useless anyways............that said, in relation to the 1" tapes, I'd be interested in knowing what type of tape it is, and what notes and details may be written on them.

Cheers,

ChrisO
