Soundcraft 1" 16 track

Never seen one of these before, a Soundcraft 1" 16 track, must be very rare? One for the historians perhaps?

Yes, rare, and IIRC none too reliable but I may be mixing that up with something else.

Wow. What a tank! BTW its an 8 track machine. Any idea what year it is Sweet? I've been doing this stuff since the late 70's and I dont recall seeing one.

The ad and pictures denote an 8 track machine.

If it actually works, looks like an interesting deck! Though the seller said it winds tape very slowly...might just be sticky shed slowing it down or some serious cob webs in the motors!

Support for these machines was considered poor when they were new. By now it's probably extinct.

Yeah, maybe its the poor~non-existent support I'm remembering...

Talldog I believe they were made for a short number of years around 1980 IIRC...again, I may be way off...

Actually thought it was a 16 track as I seem to remember reading that Soundcraft made them, should have looked closer!!!!!

Soundcraft made the recorders fairly modular. AFAIK they were only available in 2" 16-track format, the 1" machines were all 8-track.

Ooh, a mini-8. They're not common, but not that rare either. I think I've seen about four of them on ebay so far. They were popular with members of Genesis.
