Direct input guitar through m-audio fast track ultra

Everytime I record guitars like that it comes out with alot of ground noise and static. Is my fast track ultra compatible enough to run a guitar through? or could it be maybe cables? Any suggestions to get a clean sound through this interface?

You probably have an impedance mismatch. Try using a D/I box for the guitar. Here's a good one to consider:
