Adjusting meters

Hi,
I'm new here, great forum!
I'm new to tape machine, I don't actually own one but I'm considering it.
I was offered one but the seller mentioned the meters may need adjustment.
Is that a difficult thing to do? I mean is just something like using a screw driver for adjustment so it shows 0 VU with a voltage of 1.228V?
Thanks

Thumbs up

Hi,
Welcome! It can be as simple as that, That is the level for +4. If the level is -10 it would be 316 mv. Are the meters VU or LED?

Thanks.
The meters are VU. Would it be different if they were LED?

Well it is easier to set the VU meters because you can see your adjustments in small increments. The LED segments have a + or - window of 1/2 db where they will still be lit. On my Tascams I set the LED meters so at 300 mv the 0 db LED just turns on, That way they are all set the same and the 316 mv will be in the middle of the LED's range. What machine are you considering?
