Adjusting meters
Hi,
I'm new here, great forum! I'm new to tape machine, I don't actually own one but I'm considering it. I was offered one but the seller mentioned the meters may need adjustment. Is that a difficult thing to do? I mean is just something like using a screw driver for adjustment so it shows 0 VU with a voltage of 1.228V? Thanks |

Hi,
Welcome! It can be as simple as that, That is the level for +4. If the level is -10 it would be 316 mv. Are the meters VU or LED? Victory Pete ![]() |

Thanks.
The meters are VU. Would it be different if they were LED? |

Well it is easier to set the VU meters because you can see your adjustments in small increments. The LED segments have a + or - window of 1/2 db where they will still be lit. On my Tascams I set the LED meters so at 300 mv the 0 db LED just turns on, That way they are all set the same and the 316 mv will be in the middle of the LED's range. What machine are you considering?
