Make decent recordings!

Hi, I'm new at this and am looking for a little help

this is what I have

1 vocal mic
1 lexicon usb interface
reason 3
adobe audition

what Im looking to do is program drums on reason [redrum] to try to get a real drum kit sound, record acoustic and electric guitar, bass, and vocals

anyone see this happening?
advice?

Looks like you've got the basics. Whether it will sound decent or not is entirely up to you and how well you use what you've got.

To get a decent sound, you've got to have a decent source. Good song, good performance, good instruments/vocals. Then you've got to have a good room to record in, then you've got to have a good monitoring system including a good room to mix in.

A decent pair of studio monitors, mounted in the correct position and in a room that is acoustically flat. Meaning, treated so as to eliminate any standing waves, flutter, echo's, reverb, or whatevers. Check out the Studio Build forum, there's lots of discussions on acoustically treating a room. BTW: this is not the same thing as sound isolation.

Does the Lexicon USB interface boost the signal of your guitar/bass or do you need a DI box as well?
