tascam 1884 trouble

i just purchased a tascam 1884 and i cant get protools to recognize it so i can use the flip fade computer mode you know automation. i have done everything from downloading the new drivers to reinstalling protools. i have probably done most things you are going to tell me but i would love to get input on this issue just ask and i will let you know so we can try to solve this issue. i appreciate all help.
