Blue mics are pourpose specific...the bottle isnt reccommended for vocal use...the mouse is the vocal mic...The Bluebird is amore of a multipourpose mic...I dont own one...but Ive researched them...and I think for over $1000 for a mic...you should do some more research too.

It will either be the best mic you ever bought or not. That is for sure.

Well, the Bottle certainly can be used for vocals depending on which capsule you get - there are 8 different capsules available. But it also costs @$4500 with a single capsule. Additional capsules cost more, of course.

Lots of choices out there if you want to spend that kind of money.

the Blue Bottle is outstanding.
It's the cleanest sounding mic I've ever heard. that includes original U47s, U67s, and u87s.
I love the fact your switch capsules. I have used it on acoustic guitars, guitar amps, drum overheads, snare drums, drum room mics, pianos.

OUTSTANDING!

so clean and clear. the low end can get a little out of hand with certain capsules, but nothign that EQ can't fix.

I'd love to own a patched pair and all the caps.

if I only had 20k to blow!

Well that's a whole different ballgame. I own the B.L.U.E. Bird, the Baby Bottle, and the Kiwi. The Bird is very transparent, an excellent acoustic instrument mic, good on a *really good* vocalist. The Baby Bottle has more color, and is flattering, especially on some female vocalists. The Kiwi is a really good mic, with just a little color. It's my main vocal mic, and gets used on almost any source-strings, brass, percussion, whatever. In the end, it's just the best mic I could afford. God, I'd love to own a bottle with all the capsules, but I like being married too much.-Richie

I too own the Baby Bottle, what a great microphone. It was at the top of my price bracket when I bought it and I bought it used! I think it does wonders for my vocals and acoustic guitar as well as piano sounds great on it. It def. colors your tone a bit but that's plus for me. The only thing you have to watch is the low-end on that thing, gorgeous round tones but it can pick up bass where you never thought possible. Mic placement with the baby bottle (along with all others) is key. You can tilt it around to pick up less bass or whatever. A great mic!

I haven't had much experience with Blue mics with only one exception.. The bluebird.. I have to say that this mic was absolutely horrible for male vocals.. just horrible.. I should have done my homework first, and I would have easily found many other mics from blue and from other companies far better suited in general for vocals.. I can say that in a recent quest for a vocal mic for myself I had more than a few recommendations on the "Kiwi", and the "cactus" .. According to a successfull nashville engineer both of these have very unique characteristics and work very well in a lot of vocal applications.. so that's what I can add.. hope that helps some. Best of luck.

That may be the finest bit of doublespeak I've heard in a long time.

If I wanted a BLUE mic for vocals in the $1000 range, I'd look for a used Kiwi rather than a Baby Bottle. I've used the Baby Bottle and wasn't all that impressed for vocals. As was stated earlier, BLUE mics have a definite sound and tend to be geared for specific uses. I like the Baby Bottle much better as an instrument mic. The Kiwi, on the other hand, seems to be a much better vocal mic and used ones pop up with some regularity on the GS classifieds.

You may think I'm crazy, but you should try the Blueberry, its a killer sounding vocal mic, especially for the price. The top end is just amazing, 'airy' goodness. It was really easy to mix the vocal into my track, it just sat on top perfectly.

i've owned the kiwi, the mouse (transformer version), the blueberry and the bluebird. i actually preferred the mouse for vocals and probably the blueberry second over the kiwi (ymmv of course). for me the kiwi was the clear winner on acoustic guitar and best all around mic with the 9 polar patterns. the bluebird didn't really stand out for me.
if you look you can generally find any of those used for about half of the price that they sell for new

I have the pleasure of personally knowing the engineer whose design (analog circuits, capsules) are. I saw how he prepares tubes for the microphones, they are run for a whole month and then tested. only few from big bunch pass. And mics are outstanding. They might not suit your needs sometimes, but if you look for sweet large capsule condenser sound, get one.
