Angry Alesis Multimix USB 8 problems

I have had this mixer for a year now and still havn't got it working properly. It's driving me nuts! I am running it with a Mac 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, memory 4 GB, 400 GB HD. I have tried using the mixer to record my guitar and vocals with Cubase LE (bundled with the mixer) and Apple Logic Express 8, but nothing is recorded onto the assigned audio tracks. I setup the USB codec in preferences as the input/output signal so the mixer recognizes sound going into it, but it will not record properly. Logic picks up sound, but it is horribly distorted. In Cubase LE there is nothing. Having gone through the setup/instruction PDF that comes with Cubase LE, I have gone through the motions in an attempt to resolve the problem but have got nowhere. I have also tried the mixer with Cubase LE on a PC laptop, having gone through the setup procedure, but nothing. I'm starting to think that the mixer has been faulty all along. I really want to to get the thing working so I can do a basic 4 channel live recording of my band. Can someone please shed some light on this for me.

i have basically the same same setup at you. What ever you do DO NOT GIVE UP ON IT. The Alesis Mulimix 8 USB is GREAT. And i could be wrong but know what your wondering (why is there only 4 xlr inputs and 2 lines of stereo) but it comes in handy for drums.

ENOUGH RANTING

******i have noticed that distortion problem too. Im not sure what it is because i hasn't happened in a while. When i did happen, however, i would go to preferences and change to something like built in input then change back and it would go away. Does it only happen with logic?********

I HATE cubase so i use logic studio. plus the bundled cubase is a shitty version. trust me logic pro 8 is the best thing to use its the equivalent of pro tools in my opinion

sorry, i can't help you, but i'm glad i went with presonus. i was debating the multimix series heavily and then at the last minute went with presonus.

these seem like troublesome little units.
