Trident 4T Channel Strip, any good???
I got a question and I would really appreciated if u can help me ASAP... Yesterday I went to my local GC, and they have a channel strip for clearance, the model is Trident 4T,
http://remixmag.com/mag/remix_trident/ and there is a link for it... the guy told me is a very good preamp and that is a steal because it used to be $1,000 and now it's just 400, last unit for clearance... what do you guys think about that preamp for vocals? Has anyone used it? Thanks a lot again guys! |

I'd pounce on that! That's a silly price for that piece.
(Makes me wonder if it has issuses) |

The Trident name was bought by a clueless guy who tries to make the world beleive that they are "original" Trident of the past. The new ones are not anywhere near the same. Is it a good pre-amp for $400 is a different question entirely.

To Clarify:
Is it the same as an 80B - No Is it a silly-good price for a nice piece of gear (comparing to anything else at $400) - Yes cheers ![]() |

amusing quote from the remixmag review:
"Essentially, the 4T is a mic pre with phase inversion and 48kHz phantom power..." it's that 48kHz phantom power that must be giving it such magic. yes. So is John Oram not acutally the man behind this box and other modern trident gear? because he's certainly no slouch when it comes to circuit designs. cheers, Don

There really must be magic in the phantom power, you get your solid levels with it disengaged... switch it on... and magic... you can hear stuff... And John Oram now stands slightly behind, and a bit back to the left of Alan Hyatt of PMI Audio (He's a member here and posts fairly regularly ), the fine parent company of Studio Projects, Joe Meek, Toft, and Trident... decent names that Alan has kept fairly respectable... though it's definetly not the same gear, he's made it available and affordable

Hey guys, sorry I was away for a couple of days... but just wanted to let u know that I bought me the channel strip and I'm really happy with it, it really gives me nice equalizing options and a very warm and clean sound! I'm really happy with the purchase, and for $400? hehe....
Check this other review I found on sound on sound.... http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/feb0.../trident4t.htm |
