Okay my firend has a pawn shop guiatr he got a little whileback. He was trying to fix the action on his guitar by using the truss rod to take some of the bow out of the neck, however when he did that, the necj twisted, and when he put the roid back to normal it is was still a little bit twisted towards the bass side. Is there a way that this twist couldbe removbed without taking it in to a guitar shop, and what approx will it cost if we do take it to a shop?

He didn't force it at anytime, did he? I f he did, he may have broke the truss rod and will need to seek professional help.

He may have just turned it a little too much, and will just need to wait a while for the neck to flex back. Truss rod adjustments do not always yield immediate results, you may in some cases need to wait a day or too to see the full results, or too see any results at all.

You could also be beating a dead horse, it is possible that this is the reason for it being in the pawn shop in the first place. The neck could just be one of those stubborn bastards that are beyond all hope.

I plan on building me an SG clone with a sunburst finish using parts from Warmoth. An SG with a sunburst finish would kick ass. Even if it sucked to play, it would still look cool. The headstock would have a matching paint job also.

THanx, we actually just waited it out for about an hour and a half after i posted this and the neck slowly wnet back to being dtaright. Also thanx for the warmoth link, i am really inot diy guitars and stuff and that site will really help

Just for reference - a well equipped repair shop will have a device that clamps onto the neck, heats the stuffings out of it, and realigns it. Actually works with warps.

The method is definitely in the "don't try this at home" department, though. No need for a Pringles neck...

The kid next door has this Cort Strao-wannabe with a bowed neck. He brings it over and I clamped it as true as I could to a 1"X2"X30" steel bar. Threw it in the oven for 20 minutes on 350, and presto!
His dad's takin' him out to find a new guitar! Oh well, live and learn.
