Question Tascam 80-8

I was just wondering if someone could give me some info on the Tascam 80-8 8 track recorder. i.e. good or bad machine, sound quality, how often does it need to be realigned, etc, etc. Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

Great Unit to work with.Sound quality is just great.Easy to service and adjust, works excellent with tape 456.Just make sure the unit well maintain and serviced especially the motors, heads, capstan.rollers etc.Holds calibration for long periods of time,as long as you demag and clean the heads every week depending on usage.I have owned one for eleven years now,no problem.

Thx again Masterherm. Am still waiting to see if the guy wants to get rid of it or not. He told me once yes then he doesn't know. I am hoping he does as right now I am using a Teac A-3340S. I need more tracks !!! I did check the heads when I looked at the tape deck the first time and they looked like new .... now scratches or worn spots or anything. Thx again.
