refurbishing 488

I recently purchased a used tascam 488 mkii. it has problems. I'm going to have it refurbished. I have found several people who refurb these units, as well as, tascam's service department.

does anyone have an opinion on whether I should use tascam or an independent electronics company who does this kind of work.

All other things being the same I would send it to Tascam hands-down.
