snare suggestion
I'm actually posting this for a drummer friend of mine. He is looking for suggestions for a snare that would be more of an "investment" (one that will last a while and be of high value.) He wants some recomendations from a producers/engineers point of view. Sytalistically he wants to be flexible jazz/rock/praise&worship all sorts of stuff. His budget is no more than about $350 (I don't know if that's high or low for drums.) So I thought I'd post here and see what you all say. Thanks for the help.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that he is considering a metal snare because he already has a maple one. Thanks again. |

Yamaha custom birch (deeper is good, 10") Add on the wooden rims. The signature ones are okay (like the Anton Figg) but you pay more for that. The plain old custom birch is a very good universal drum and will sound a bit warmer for the jazz and gospel music and provide a real good backbeat. I like the wooden rims for cross stick.
