Just got a 388, recording help?
Agh...
Well, I'm more than thrilled that someone gave me their Tascam 388 that's been well cared for, and has seen about 20-30 hours of total use. I have the original manual as well, but I've tried the steps laid out in the part where it says to record "1..3..5..7..9..." in the mic, and while I get a reading on the meters, anything I record doesn't play back. So far, I'm going to assume I'm doing something wrong. However, there is a recording of someone doing an awful job of singing The Wanderer on this tape that plays back fine. Would anyone here happen to know anything about the 388? Perhaps some suggestions as to what I'm doing wrong?
