Problem with Mix ratio control on my MBOX2

So i've have an mbox2 and a c3000b for two years, no problems, but in the last recording, my buddy said that there was this delay on the monitoring of his voice in his headphones as he was recording a verse, Like normally i'd have the mix ration control at around 9oclock so that the beat had some volume but the playback of his voice wasnt too loud (though it was never delayed)

and suddenly theres like this 1 second delay on the vocals, and i tried myself and the same thing happened. Its so distracting when your trying to record (hip hop in this case) and theres this off time voice in the headphones messing up your cadence. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I haven't changed any settings to my knowledge, which is why its so confusing.

and because i have no real idea what is causing this and/or what the problem even is (technically) this may be an unclear plea for help, but just ask me questions if your confused in anyway,

There was already a lot of postings about this, reference playback engine settings, muting the vocal track, mix settings, etc. The best thing is to experiment with all those things to find a balance.

But it certainly is far from perfect, and could easily be rectified at the manufactures build.

Here's a quote from another forum:

Mute the track before recording. Then record enable and go.....
You still hear the guitar being played in the mix. If not loud enough, then bring down volume on other tracks and raise volume on master track or headphone/spkr outs.
Then you finish and bring all levels back to normal position.

Use the plugins after recording.

That's the work around.

Check your hardware buffer size in Setup --> Playback Engine.

Set it to the lowest value you can without playback interrupts.

You might have to lighten your plugin load if you can't lower it enough without interrupts.

512 is usually delay-less enough for me.

Is there a way to turn off the mo itoring through PT and just monitor through the interface? So there is no delay?

Um... I mean is there a way to not moniterthem through PT permanantly. Without having to mute the track everytime you record and unmite it for playback.. Like in cubase there is an option to turn of the monitering through the software. I was wondering if PT had something like that.

I think you can only set that up in HD but not sure. I know the feature you mention in cubase, it would be nice.
