Question Drum trigger plugin?

Someone told me about this once, but I forgot the name of it.
A plugin which would turn drum hits into midi files so you could put in different sounds in place of the drums.
Anyone know of this program? Does it work with Mac 10.5.6?
Also, if I got a hold of this plugin, is there a way I could make a sample into a midi sound? Like a bass drum sound that I like and make it into a midi sound to use for my kick sound?

If that makes any sense.
I prefer free plugin if possible. Or at the very most $50.
Thanks,

Elliot

Drumagog is a popular drum replacement program...
http://www.drumagog.com/

Generally you just load the samples into it that you want to trigger, however you can do stuff with MIDI if you prefer.

Awesome, thanks, I'll check it out.

EDIT: Well that would kill the budget...
Anything free? or <$50?

Check out the built-in plugins in Reaper, that's what I've been using lately with really good results. There's an OS X version of Reaper, and if you dig it, the whole shebang with all the included plugs is $50 for the non-commercial license
