Accoutic panels & M Audio BX5a monitors

Hey guys,

Just moved into our new house and I'm finally ready to start adding more acoustic panels.

First, the monitors I'm using right now are M Audio BX5a. They have small holes(ports?) in the back which I'm not sure how they affect where I put the panels.

I have a very compact set-up with a desk and computer monitor with a speaker on each side angled in to form the normal triangle for listening.

Because the room is used to mix and track vocals I want to increase my acoustic panels to create bass traps in all 4 corners and 2 panels on each wall and 2 on the ceiling.

Hope this makes sense.

Any input would be appreciated!

Hmmm.. i can't help you, but i have the exact same question/scenario.

I use BX5a's in a very small room.

Does anyone know how 'Bass Ports' on the rear of speakers work? If there are baffles (or broadband absorbers) behind the speakers, will it destroy the bass these ports generate?

Also, If these speakers are relatively close to the wall, does that effect the bass response as well?

Did a search for how bass ports work.. couldn't find much.
