the previous audio interface is not available?!

i have 2 firepods (fp10's). the first one crapped out right after the first year. the second one has worked on and off the whole time. last night all i could get was 'the previous audio interface is not available'. i use logic 7 on a 10.3.5. very annoying. i checked around and none of the tips for similar problems worked. when i checked the drivers, the firepod was the driver, so i tried logic setup assistant. when it got to the 'find midi device' (where it scans and finds your interface), it did not find it. i went back and checked the audio drivers again and the firepod was still the driver. i decided to move the driver to 'built in audio' so i could re-check the firepod, and it dissapeared. the only choice i had was built in driver. the sync light on the firepod was blue the whole time. i went and bought a new firewire, nothing. also tried 'initialize all except key commands. nothing. my hair line receeded a full half inch. anyone know any tips besides bosley or rogain???
