I've been recording off and on for a couple of years. I'm just now starting to get serious about it. I record using Cool Edit Pro, but I have a Roland VS 880 that I use to plug my mic into. I'm wanting to buy a cheap but Nice condenser mic. I found a couple of MXL mics I like and one Eagletone CM 40.
What I want to know is, does the Roland have any phantom power. If it does is it strong enough to power a condenser mic. If I have to buy a power supply, can I still use my Roland in place of buying a preamp????? All your tips and advice will be greatly used and appreciated. ![]() |

It does not, see p. 37:
http://www.rolandus.com/uploads/CMS/...3/vsappgd2.pdf Also check out p. 20, I've never seen an audio manufacturer compare their gear to a toilet before ![]() Anyway, you need an external preamp with phantom power or an external phantom power supply. You can connect either to the VS880. |
