Updating from Pro Tools Le 7 to Le 8

Hey guys, this is my first post, hope to continue being a part of this very cool culture of musicians.
Heres my first situation.
I just bought myself the mbox 2 and they told me I could update to pro tools le8 for free online since i bought my mbox after a certain date.
So first i installed pro tools le 7 and hooked up my mbox and it all worked fine.
That weekend i download the le8 but at some point after like 2 hours of dloading, there seemed to be some kind of problem with the download but I had a bunch of new files downloaded.
I tried to open pro tools now, and it does not work.
I dont know if i was supposed to uninstall pro tools le 7, or never install it at all, and just get the free updated to le 8.

I have that new aluminum macbook with leopard and all the requirements to support the software so what do you suggest i do?

Thanks in advance!

If I'm understanding correctly, you've installed the upgrade, but you cannot launch Pro Tools.

What I recommend doing is uninstalling Pro Tools completely, and trying to install it again. If this fails, redownload the file from the Digidesign website (Log in to your My Digi page to access the download).

To uninstall Pro Tools, navigate using finder to the applications folder>digidesign>pro tools>utilities and then Pro Tools Uninstaller. I think that's correct - it's from memory!

Failing all of that, contact Digidesign technical support. You should be in your free support period. They are very helpful and should be able to sort it out for you.

I think your download is corrupt from what you've described. I suggest re-downloading and trying again!

Thanks guys, i figured it out already. I just had to uninstall the version I already had, and then i was able to download it off the digidesign website with no problems at all. I appreciate the advice, and now I just have to figure out how this works!
