Recording Book for Nebies for HD16

Does anyone know of a book or dvd or video anything that could help a newbie walk thru recording on a Zoom HD16 recorder I have the record functions figured out but the adding of effects and what not are kind of a blur and the manual is written for seasoned recorder ops. thanks and i enjoy the forums here
