New guy in need of a mixer
Hi, FNG to the site. I'm on a tight budget and need a mixer that I can use mainly live and do some basic tracking with. I'm looking at the Behringer Xenyx 2442 and the Yamaha MG166C-USB. From what I've read, the Xenyx will only record 2 tracks at a time. I can't get a straight answer for the Yamaha/Cubase AI4 combo, some say 2, some say 4 stereo or 8 mono. I'm leaning towards the Yamaha if I can track 8 channels at once, as I said I can't get confirmation and the clerks at GC can't seem to agree. Thanks in advance.

you can get a factory resealed package for $650.00 you ain't going to beat that with a ball bat in both hands. This is exactly what I am saving up for as a IEM mixer and recording interface all in one neat rack case which i can use live stage use or in my garage studio or any where else I can get power to it ![]() http://www.americanmusical.com/ItemS...helix--srcin-1 |

there's the answer i needed. SO, if I haul my 3.0 GHz XP box with USB 2.0 down to the studio space and hook the Yamaha MW12 USB back up...i should be able to get more than just two channels? It was my slow-ath USB ports holding me back all this time? |

Do a google search on Alesis Multimix USB and you will find a line of mixers that will allow simultaneous tracking of more than two channels over the USB2 interface. As always, try before you buy.

I am not familiar with that mixer so I would hate to give you misinformation but just ooking on MF website you are only going to get 2 channels to your DAW best thing to do is hook it up to your computer and open your recording program, open up the routing matrix and see how many channels it shows on the routing matrix. that is the only real way to tell how many tracks you can record to. |
