Question Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire with Toshiba Satellite L40-139

hi, I'd like to know which card to buy to connect via firewire
(keeping the separate tracks recording) an Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire
to a Toshiba Satellite L40-139 (which has not firewire ports). The laptop is equipped with Windows Vista, but I can install XP if necessary. I've been told I've got no slot for PCMCIA cards in this laptop, so I've got to use a Firewire 54/34 Express Card. I've been told to use DPC Latency Checker and to buy a Texas Instrument chip equipped card. Can you explain or confirm all these things, and please suggest to me the EXACT card which I should buy (brand and model)?
