Question ultimate noob Alesis sr-16 midi recording

Hello everyone...I have an Sr-16 and I want to record using the midi out into my usb port. I have the usb / midi cables that have an I/O connection. I'm running a freeware recording program called "krystal" which actually is working out well surprisingly enough. My question is: is there something special I need to have as an interface besides the cables to make this work or can I just go directly into my usb port right into the program? my e-mail is threerings4@hotmail.com Thanx for the help...
