Can I record Audio and picture files on the same CD?

I want to record a number of poets reading poems that have been written in response to the work of a number of painters. Is there a way of putting their audio files along with illustrations of the pictures that inspired them on the same CD?

yes, there are many, many ways to do this.

All data on a computer (pictures, music, word files, spreadsheets, movies, etc..) are just that.. data. It can all be put onto a CD.

You just need to place the music and picture files onto the CD.

Your problem is going to be how you want to present the linked image and sound files. Do you plan to view these via web browser, flash application, Power Point type slide show, etc?

So to answer your question "Can I record Audio and picture files on the same CD?", the answer is YES.

For your next question 'How?' .. well that's a bit more involved and depends on some other things.

There's also the question of if you want it to be a playable CD. (i.e. can I put it in my CD player and listen to it?)

That, too is possible, but I have no idea how to do it.

Response from David Holgate

Hey. Thanks a lot guys. Much relieved to know it is possible! I do want for the CD to be playable on a normal CD player and, if possible, on the CD drive of a computer and for the pictures from the artists to be viewable on a computer screen. Can anyone tell me where I need to go to find out what is possible technically and what is not.

If you have Nero on your PC you can do this relatively easily, because its Vision Express has an option to creat a VCD of slide show. This VCD will play through computer DVD/CD drives and on most DVD players.

Into the slide show maker you load the sound track (i.e. the poems), then add the relevant images at the spots required.

Most video editing programs will allow you to do this as well. Windows Moviemaker often comes as an accessory with XP. In anycase, it's a free download, and will do the job.
