Hello there. I've search on this forum trying to find some answers but... there's no luck.
I hope someone will give me a straight and good answer and probably some explanation.
I have 2 Multimix 16 Firewire (1 in studio, one in my bedroom). Sometimes the bedroom computer I would like to use it just for listening some music on my 5.1 system. Here is the problem. The computer is not recognizing my computer on-board sound card. I tried to install it and everything goes fine until I check the Sound and Audio Devices. Is nothing there, just my Alesis Multimix. Is there a possibility to use them both, the Alesis Multimix and the computer On-board sound card (in my case: Realtek High Definition Audio System) ?

Thank you so much for your time and help.

check and see if the device manger sees it. if it does see it, then right click the soundcard and make sure it is enabled.

I posed this question to alesis about my laptop and they said you shouldn't need to disable it. That said, from my experience, onboard sound cards are fairly unreliable and stop working for no apparent reason. You'll probably have better luck with a cheap pci card...
