Need help testing free drum sequencer program

I looked around all the boards, wasn't sure where to post this.

I am developing a free drum program/ sequencer program.
It uses real kit samples and so the sounds are pretty decent.

I need Beta testers to help flush out bugs and help improve the user interface.

Didn't see a misc software board.
Where should I post in Home recording?

Thanks all

There does seem to be a slight lack of forum categories for that, I guess here and Computer Recording are the two closest for the time being.

Maybe we should look at modernising the sub-forums?

Anyway, lots of people here like freebies so I'm sure you'll find some users who want good free drums.

Excellent, thank you.

In the first beta test release below, you can create Drum kits, patterns and sequences. You can save theses files and share them with others which is the main reason I am developing this program. My main drum program software does not export kits, patterns and sequences. A user library of free kits sequences and patterns is the ideal goal for me.

Read the Readme.txt file in the main folder for a bunch of info
This is version 1.0, lots more improvements to come.
What it does not do at this point:
It does not do any recording yet.
It does not have the ability to add effects to each track yet.
There is no help file yet either, but who reads those.

I included some drum kits, patterns and a sequence,
Do this for a quick test
Load the DW1/DW1.kit - drum kit.
Load the Hypnotized/Hypnotized.seq - sequence
Play the sequence or patterns, do other things, report back.

Developed using windows XP 32 bit and vb.net
You will need to have .net installed on your computer.
I am not sure how this will work on vista, all my test PC's here are XP pro.
Not sure about 64 bit systems either.
Would appreciate feedback on any of those situations.

Download the zip file below, it's about 22mb's
Unzip it on your desktop or where ever you like
There is no need to install it, it runs in stand alone mode.
It does not require an internet connection either.
Open the unzipped folder and go into the Release folder.
Double click on the DrumStik.exe file to start the program.

http://www.el34world.com/Misc/Music/files/DrumStik.zip

I'll be testing it here also and checking back here for bugs, problems and suggestions.
Thanks for the help and any feedback

here's a screen shot with some info

I made a ton of changes to the sequencer program, including adding a bunch of error traps that display a small pop up information box when the error is triggered.

Some of you may have better luck with this release.
here's the link.
http://www.el34world.com/Misc/Music/files/DrumStik.zip

Just delete the first download completely and use this one.

Thanks for the help

Been working on getting the vista version up and running.

I had to install virtual pc and a vista image to be able to test it on Vista.
I tested the program on vista and it is working on my machine.

Here's the version 1.3 update and it is only a 500K download this time.
You can just unzip it and drop the new .exe file into the release folder, replacing the old .exe file completely.
That is, if you downloaded the main zip file already.

Can someone give it a spin on vista for me?

Ok, now 64 bit vista has been tested and should work with the x86 folder below.
Basically to get the drum sequencer running you have to have .net 3.5 and XP or Vista 32 or 64 bit

.net 3.5 link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

The readme.txt file is here.
http://www.el34world.com/Misc/VB/Files/ReadMe.txt

here's a link to the x86 version that has been tested to work on 64 bit vista.
It also works on xp 32 bit so you don't need the original release folder if you use the x86 folder
http://www.el34world.com/Misc/VB/Fil...Me.txt/x86.zip

It may be confusing now with all these different zip files
basically you just need the data folder and the x86 folder under a main folder like this

Here's a link to the most recent data folder that has some additional files that are needed.

Sorry, that link for the x.86 file above is wrong and you are not allowed to edit your post after a certain amount of time, for some strange reason?

Anywho
My program is coming along nicely and so I set up a web page with instructions on how to operate it and the most recent file downloads.
It's way easier to do it this way instead of posting new files on several forums.

thanks to all who are helping me test the program.
I'll be updating the web site with new versions quite often as I add new features and remove bugs.

Here's the web page link
http://www.el34world.com/Misc/Music/DrumStik1.htm

I could use many more beta testers.
Anyone interested in drums and drum sequencing may want to check it out.
thanks for all the help

03/04/2009 - Version 1.51 has been uploaded to the server.

http://www.el34world.com/Misc/Music/DrumStik1.htm

Note: I noticed that the Intel Speedstep setting on my MOBO bios was messing with the samples playback timing.
I disabled it in the BIOS and the samples were playing back in perfect time.
This only happened on my dual cpu auto overclocked Intel system.
My single cpu systems did not have this problem.

Samples

Hey EL34,
I am at work so I can't do much downloading or reading but I had a question.
How easy is it to create your own samples and edit them to use in the kits?

The reason I ask is I have a really nice kit and there are times I would rather sample my kit and build quick drum tracks rather than set up everything to record.
Also there are times I have recorded others and their tracks were so honked up it would be easier to use samples of their kit and sequence a drum track rather than edit the live tracks.

Let me know.
Depending on your answer,I may give the program a whirl.
