stick a cheat sheet on the edge of your monitor, keyboard, or somewhere visible... before long you won't even be looking at it for most of the ones you use a lot.

or Digi sells a keyboard you can buy, but it's pretty pricey.

Just keep working with it, you'll learn them as you go.

EditorsKeys is the way to go. Made me so much faster at Pro Tools, and now I don't even need them.

Hi Danczer,
I would recommend buying Pro Tools For Musicians by John Keane. It teaches you how to use the software effectively with shortcuts and even provides little singposts you can put on the keys of your computer to remember them.
Best,
carsoste

editors keys

definately try editors keys, i started using just the sticker sets and used them so much that i have bought one of the cover sets. Definitely easier then learning all the shortcuts by heart

Sounds to me like a nice time to resell at an affordable rate.

Here is the hotkeys.

http://akmedia.digidesign.com/suppor..._v73_32965.pdf

Remember the ones that you can implement into your workflow, put them on a little pad by your keyboard or monitor and you'll get them into your routine.

I'm on pc and my most frequent are

CTRL + D for Duplicate.
CTRL + C and CTRL + V for copy and paste.
CTRL + E to slice a clip.
CTRL + SHIFT + N for new tracks.
F12 to start record.

actually, I find the fastest way to work is to have the "hotkeys" setting on, which means cut, copy and paste respectively become X, C and V (no need for apple+ or ctrl+) zoom in/out is T/R, things like moving edit selection up/down/left/right becomes P, :, L, ", and so on.

mega fast!

instead of the pro tools keyboard buy this for 40 bucks

Belkin - Nostromo SpeedPad it has 3 layers of 15 keys you can progam every macro for up to like 115 keys per macro and here the kicker it saves as a small file on the desktop and you can change programs on the fly! say a diffrent daw or something. You can have even more macros cause it resets the memory that's every macro you could need 45 total for any program I have a layer for acid a layer for pro tools even a layer for photo shop it makes things quick and easy and everything runs smoother

sorry im wrong its 104 macros per program not 45

Nostromo Array Software lets you program up to 104 functions

Start off by learning the shortcuts that you use the most, like undo, create new track, things like that. Then once u can remember them without a hitch learn a new one and keep adding onto it.

And editorskeys look nice I might have 2 purchase one set for my macbook and then another for the G3 (oldie but goldie) and then one for the windows machine.
