RPM Challenge update- samples and interview

Hi All: I am done with day 8 and have 14-1/2 cds done. The Wire, an arts paper in New Hampshire sponsors the RPM Contest. the editor contacted me today about the 28 or more cds I am recording this month and will be doing a phone interview with me tomorrow. I am rolling along and think I will get more than 28 songs. I have a 4 day weekend coming up this week. That will give me time for up to 8-10 cds. Our house party for the 28th is coming together as well. It is going to celebrate the Bushman Harp Contest award and the RPM Challenge. I have people coming from as far as 150 miles away for it, and the list looks to be about 60 as of now and a special world reknowned bluegrass fiddler. I am going to have my special ed students make some of my mothers Spaghetti and meatballs for it. My mother if an full blooded off the boat, New Jersey Moma who taught me to cook. Walter

I've gotta say. I'm not a big fan of the style of music you play, but I never cease to be amazed by how prolific you are.

I may not like the genre, but I can tell you're doing a pretty good job of it. Kudos.

thanks! I appreciate your support. I figure anyone can do what I do. It is simple, just don't think and fall into the dreams of your heart, the pains of your souls, and the joys of the world. It can be to any kind of music. The music business has brainwashed us into thinking there is only one way to make and play music- their way. Walter

The party sounds great. Hope to see some photos and maybe video posted somewhere afterwards, Walt. Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

I do like the genre you play in and I have various stuff from the old blues guys in my collection: Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, etc.

But as you say, genre is not important. What's important is writing and playing from the heart - and you do. I aspire to that.

hi Frankie Rage: Hopefully somebody will take some pictures and or video. I may have a couple of pretty well known musician friends there too. I am up to 15-1/2 cds as of today. The WIRE, the magazine that sponsors the RPM Challenge, interviewed me last night. It is due out next Wed.

The old blues guys sort define the blues for me. Getting to play, live, and tour with a bunch of them, was a priceless gift. People generally call me a blues player. I don't feel like one. I feel like I got those old guys spirits in me, but I have been around rock and roll, and other kinds of music to just think in a blues mind. Take care and thanks for all your support! Walter
