Hey guys!

Here's my latest offering....actually a re-recording of a song I wrote last year. Solos by my buddy Chris from Hanover, rest is yours truly. Tell me what you think I should do better. Now I'm off to watch Superbowl!

No mix comments, since my speakers are shite, but everything sounds well balanced, great vocals as always!

I am still tweaking our last project, and if you get time, I have one last one if you want to...

I downloaded this one for my files...

Thanx Eddie, I'm not sure about the guitar tone and the bass could be a bit too loud.

Sure send it over, I'll see what I can do....

love the song. I do think that the guitars sound a bit small for the song. I'd go for a more beefy guitar tone, at least on the rhythm. I also think the drums could come up a little.

great work.

Jpiwikid and Bozmillar,

Thanx for your comments. This is only my first mix, I'll be doing it again in a coupla days. You're right about the guitars they have to be more dominant somehow. Appreciate your comments!

Yeah, I had a good listen, and I agree with the guitar tone. Still a kick-ass tune.

Great performance as usual Joe !

Agreed on the guitars, although I think you are pretty close to the kind of metal sound you are going for...Maybe the drums could use a little oomph of some kind...really an interesting arrangement with plenty of twists and turns for the listener. Vocals a highlight as always !

The comments that came to mind, are already posted

Great guitar parts and vocals Joe

Hmm, personally, I think it would have a heavier feel if you ditched out the keys, and leave them only in the intro and the bridge JMHO

The solo is great!!

Good job.

Heat and Jorge,

thanx for your comments! I'm working on a new mix right now and trying to solve the issue with the guitars. I'm trying not to compress the kit too much to let it breathe, but I've noticed that the bass might have a bit too much low end. Hope to post again soon!

Very nice piano intro.

Cool metal sound and hair metal sound.

The tone is not so easily analyzed on the laptop speakers. I don't have my regular gear, so using the laptop.

Overall, the melody/music sound cool.

I gotta agree with the guitar comments. They sound way too mid-scooped and/or thin. Swap some of the bass meat for the fiddles and it will kick ass. Vocals sound fantastic as always. Guitar performances are great. I'm not a huge fan of the keys. The synths sound fine, but the piano parts sound kind of casio-ish. But I don't know anything about synths or midi, so you can tell me to shut the fuck up and that would be okay.

Another fine sounding song Joey! The guitars are very metal sounding, but they fit the mood of the song pretty well though.
The keyboard sounds are really lo-fi sounding, they have an 80's sound that dates them-they are lacking dynamics compared to the screaming guitars that burst out.
Vocals are outstanding as usual, harmonies great a well.
I tried to check this out over the weekend, but the internet connection was awful-Superbowl fans must have brought it to a standstill-I'm sure glad to get to finally listen and comment.

Nah....don't ever shut up , Greg! You're blessed with fantastic ears and you''re right about the piano. I was using a pretty cheap-sounding old piano plug-in there and didn't feel like re-recording it again. Unfortunately I don't have the midi-file anymore, it's a rendered track. With the guitars, I should have the new mix ready by tonite. I beefed the mids on the guitars up a little.
Appreciate your comments!

Thanx for your comment, Tony!
Yeah, the keys do have a cheapo sound. I don't usually have keys in my songs, I always want the guitar to be in front. But you're right about them sounding dated. With keys it takes more time to find the right sound then to programme them!

Superbowl was great....

Excellent song - great vox.
Yeah sirloin for the rhythm guitars and a tooth transplant for the piano - if you have another sample that is. maybe adjust your filter on the gits?
The tone on the solo lines is really good.
Euro metal lives!

Hey, Ray!
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm doing with the guitars......
Eurometal, that's right.....song does have a nordic feel. The style is inspired by bands like Nightwish from Norway or Within Temptation.
Thanx for the comments!

New Mix

Ok, guys, here's a second try....

http://www.supload.com/listen?s=vInUi3

I've tried to beef the guitars up a bit, cut some low end from the bass, removed the piano fom the choruses (I felt it was causing some mud there).

Hope you can tell me what you think!
