Nice!
I kept expecting Bass and Drums to come in at some point, but still the song is really nice. Thumbs up from me. If you ever get the itch for collabs and need a drummer, let me know!

You have an awesome voice. Nice song. I really love the piano panned hard to the right.

Overall, this sounds nice, nicely mixed, balanced. I'm afraid the vocal retuning, though relatively subtle, perhaps, by today's standards, hits my ears wrong, some of the artifacts are just so unnatural... Since your singing and vocal arrangements have such a pleasant feel, the AT artifacts are a little like someone has drawn a mustache on a nice painting. That out of the way, I think this is otherwise a very nicely done track. I wasn't sure the 'balance' of guitar on one side and piano on the other was going to work for me but, in the end, I was fine with it.

danny why do you tease me with these lil guitar an key demos? you have amazing talent take the time and have something produced with a full band sound. What your doing now already sounds like a record cause the guitar sounds good and you have amazing vocal talent

Nice little song. Not my style because it is the complete opposite of rock, but nicely done. Guitars and piano sound great together. The oooh-ooohh vocals are a bit too loud. Good job overall though.

i'm not trying to tease i promise! believe me i'm workin on getting a band together so i can get a fully produced sound on my songs. as soon as that happens i'll be frequenting this forum to get the opinions of you and the other recording specialists on here about all the problems i'll inevitably run into as i'm a mixing newbie.... thank you for the compliments ![]()

Listened yesterday but didn't get a chance to comment...nice and bright yet still full enough sounding...well done overall
!That breathy vocal sound is really big right now...how does that happen? Might I ask what mic, etc. you're using? Obviously, your voice is the bigger factor, but I'm just curious about the process, as it sounds very contemporary in a radio sort of way...

Fantastic song man, very well written. I think the hard-right panned piano is a really nice touch. The Oooh's seem a bit too left...I know they're probably to the left to balance it out, but they sound a bit heavy to that side. Otherwise, I think it's an awesome song. Great songwriting skills.. I'm not gonna say I'm not a bit jealous!

Lovely song and a lovely voice. Really loved it!
I'm no technical guy but I like writing songs and if I'm being overly critical the refrain around 2:20 is a bit redundant for me. Feels like a filler, biding time before the lovely verse comes back in. The verse is full of minor notes which really make it unique and catchy, then the part round 2:20 seems like the pivot of the song yet doesn't have any of that minor charm. If you could add a slight change to the melody there, it'd be a little masterpiece, I think. I'm being overly critical though 'cause I too like getting criticism. Inspiring stuff. intomusic |

thank you for the listen and the compliments! about my setup is pretty simple. i just have an mbox and an akg perception 120. i record into logic and for this particular song i compressed the vocals pretty hard. 9:1 i believe it was with over 10db gain reduction. medium attack and hard release. i know it sounds weird, but it was worlds better than the static compression i tried and much better than the standard 3:1 or leaving it natural. i also tried doubling the vocal track with 3:1 (3db gain red.) but it just didnt sound clean. i guess i could have messed with the eq on the second vocal track to thin it out, but i found that hard compression gave me a simpler solution. i just try to make to with the limited equip i've got. oh yeah and the piano was midi. thanks again for the listen!

Very nice! Great voice, nice playing and very well recorded. Great vocal harmonies. Only thing I would have done is record the piano in stereo and not just panned on one side. Still great though, well done!

I'm really liking this.
I'd drop the "ooh" back too. I'd say that you'd find a good level by imagining that they're under the main vocal line and mixing accordingly. With that being said, however, I'd leave the last round of "ooh"s the same volume. Not sure why, but I think it could work. Maybe even a really minor touch of reverb could work well too. Well done ![]() |

Yes it's been a while - great tune Danny83. Well recorded and super delivery....Cool - no drums and it has good rhythm.... A bit of harmony on the vocals (other than the fabulous "oohs") would be cool. Excellent stuff!

Hey Danny - I really loved listening to this song. It was an easy listen - your voice is great, the melody is interesting and the chord progression was nice. I agree that the ooh's were a bit too loud, but I love the harmonies in them. Very nice! I also agree with the other comment about waiting for drums and bass to come in. I knew they weren't going to because it was listed as acoustic, but if you wanted to, you could really build the song up about 1/3 or 1/2 way through. But it sounds great as acoustic as well.
Keep writing - sounds great! Jen |
