Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire with Vista and Cubase LE 4

I got a new Multimix firewire 8 and connected it to my Vista-HP-Pavilion-Notebook.
I can record the input of the Multimix with Cubase but i can't hear any sound-output on the Multimix from Cubase when i start to play the recorded session.

can you help me please.
Coud it be, that the reason is, that i only connected them with the 4-pin Firewire that ist buildin in my Notebook?

I am not sure if this applies since I am using different software, but; I have the Multimix16USB2.0 on a vista machine with Mixcraft software. My problem is that I can record using the ASIO driver, but I need to change in Preferences to the WaveRT driver to hear playback. Try that and let me know.

hmm maybe change your default sound playback device to your original (goto sound and speech settings in control panel). i remember having trouble with this before. have you a set of monitors connected to multimix? as this is what allows you to hear playback (the mixer is the sound card now, not your laptop/desktops internal soundcard) if not you wont get anything back unless you monitor through your pc by changing your playback device outlined above.

if you cant afford monitors for now use headphones to listen to playback through the mixer

having said all this though it could still be a number of things, you'll get there in the end
