Where to look for empty reels

I just scored 10 BASF pancakes for pretty darn cheap. Now, I need reels/flanges and boxes. Where should I go for this if I'm looking for a bargain?

I see cheap auctions on ebay for old Scotch reels, but no boxes. I just put an ad on Craigslist, too. Does anybody have any suggestions? Just thought I'd put this question out there...

thanks!

Oh, sorry. 10.5". I found a source for empty boxes, too. Minimum order of 50 boxes. I could order a carton of 50 and split it with a friend.

I was gonna say eBay would be the 1st place I'd recommend...I have a running search for "(reel, tape)"...that searches for anything with reel or tape in it and then I narrow down the sellers exclusions.

I've got some 1/2" reels w/boxes. 5 in all. Reels and boxes are in good condition. $15.00 each or all for $60.00. + shipping. That's about 50% of what dealers are charging now.

Ask (or post on Craigslist) and ye shall receive. I just got an email from someone who has 30 reels of recorded tape. He wants to sell them for $10 apiece. And who knows - maybe the tape is OK, too.

I feel kinda bad about sending a gigantic wad of magnetic tape to the landfill, but... ah. Sigh.

I've heard that oxide grows on trees in California..

When you get there and the reels look good, ask the seller to give you a good 'bulk deal', maybe $5 / tape.
