DOD R-825 compressor

So I picked one of these up for $30. Didn't come with a manual, but I figured "I know how to use a compressor."

But when I looked closer, the only controls on it are ratio, attack, release, output level, and input level.

There's no threshold. Is the input knob supposed to be the threshold? I was turning that all the way up and down and didn't notice a difference at all. There was some crackling, which I'm sure some deoxit would take care of. The output knob worked as it should.

Anybody got a clue on this? Thanks

Did you adjust the ratio control? Try that in combination with the input gain.

Yep...input and ratio. Crank the input and ratio and you'll get a lot of compression. Dial them back and you'll get less.

Ok. I know I messed with the ratio and knew that was working, but I think I only messed with the input on its own without messing with the ratio.

Thanks y'all
