Which MBox 2 should I get?

Hello there everyone, new to these forums.

I have beeen researching a lot in the past week or so on Pro Tools and the hardware. At the same time I am getting a home studio set up.

I've recorded before with an original MBox and PT6.4 at another studio and it turned out good.

For myself, I'm going to be getting the MBox 2 with Pro Tools LE 7.x, and for what I'm doing I want to know which one will suffice so as to not waste extra money if I don't have to.

I am doing Hip Hop Vocals over a beat. That is it, one mic is all that'll be going in (besides the studio monitors/speakers) for one person. Am I dumb for thinking the MBox 2 will be more than enough for that? I'm not going to have a lot of tracks for a song either...so compared to what I've seen other users doing i don't think I'm pushing Pro Tools at all.

Thanks for all future help.

i like to think its always a good idea to prepare yourself. i think mbox 2 will be perfect for you! and if you ever want to use 2 mics, you'll be good to go! you would probably be good with any of them except the micro of course,(no ins) but its all up to wether or not you think you might need it in the future. features that is.

I can tell you that a couple of people I know bought the MBox 2 Pro version and have had nothing but trouble out of them, with no real resolution to the problems. (Both were running them on iMACs)

I have the not pro version and have had absolutely no trouble out of it. I would agree that, for what you are doing, it should do the trick.

Cheers!

are you using the pro on windows?
I find the whole having to connect an mbox everytime your working on protools a pain, Ive a studio at home with a large desktop but id love to be able to copy my tunes over to a laptop to work on them on long flights but Id need to buy a micro for the laptop.
Its my only major issue with protools and mboxes
