Post Using Cubase VST 32. Should I upgrade?

I have been using Cubase 32 for almost 8 years now. Is the quality of recording on the newer Cubase worth upgrading my old stuff? I am skeptical because I know how to use it so well!

If it aint broke, dont fix it.

The Cubase 3 and 4 series will definately sound better, but if you have an old PC, they will probably eat up more system resources.

Really depends whether you NEED to upgrade or want to.

Cubase 3 or 4 are as only as good as you are, I use SX 2 and the sound im getting is better than my friends set up which uses 4.
What im trying to say is if your in the box it could pose as a problem because of the new vsts coming out but if you use outboard gear i would stick with what you know best!

I'm inclined to agree with Waffleness, above. Then again, I would say that because I use VST32v5. I even run it on Windows 98SE. I have a Delta1010LT soundcard, (used my Delta 66, trouble-free before then) and have no latency issues, no midi issues (Evolution midi keyboard cotroller into VSTi or Reason [rewire slave]) I know the day will come, when, cash permitting, I upgarde to a newer DAW, but I will keep my old machine running VST on 98, because I know VST so intuitively now, it'd slow my processing, producing down.

Good luck

I was using VST 5 until a couple of years ago, and only upgraded because the PC was slowing down too much, so upgraded the PC as well, to SX3.

I agree with above - if it ain't broke...

Although I think SX3 is better than what I was using. Not really tempted to go to Cubase 4 or 5 yet...

i'm on C4 at present and wanting C5 pretty badly... things have changed sooooo much since you put that box together... i'd upgrade but that might entail a new puter... i doubt C4 will run on that old box...

My system is a newer P4 system (3 GHz) and 4 GB RAM, so my system is not an issue. I think I will keep what I have and upgrade my DAW. Building goes up tomorrow by the way, and we are so excited!

What is it that you don't like about your current results?
