Using Delay FX (Studio 4)??
I want to insert some delay on a vocal track I did and tried using the mono delay, but don't see how to set the delay time to match up with the tempo of the music. I see there are presets for time, but that doesn't necessarily match up with the exact tempo does it? I recorded in a studio where the engineer had an outboard delay that he tapped a button with the tempo of the music so the delays were lined up. Is there something like that in Studio 4 to get the delays lined up with the tempo?
Thanks for any help!! |

There is a button called synch that will let you match it to the tempo of your track. This does rely you settings the tempo in cubase to what the song is doing. There should be options such as 1/4, 1/8, etc.
There is no standard tap delay with studio 4 I am aware of. You may be able to create one by setting the delay to 1/4 and then tapping the tempo into the beat calculator in the project menu. Its much easier to just record to a click and set the tempo in cubase. |

Can you expand on that a little more please? How do I set the beat calculator? I usually use a click. This particular recording, the guy was unable to play to the click. But if he did, how would I use that tempo to set the delay so it lined up?
Thanks!! |

1) Go into Project, then beat calculator
2) Click "Tap Tempo" 3) Tap the space bar in time with your music 4) Right click on the channel list, and select "Add FX Channel Track". Select your mono delay. Click ok. 5) Ensure the "sync" button is lit up 6) Turn the delay to 1/4 7) Go to your vocal track 8) Go to the sends drop down box 9) Select your newly created FX Track 10) Send a sizeable signal (-5dB?) 11) Tweak until it sounds good This should create a delay of 1/4 beats at the tempo you tapped out. If you need to re-tap the tempo, repeat steps 1 to 3. |
