i got booted off while editing my post so heres a second option

if you dont like pro tools
http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i-MAC-ONYXSAT-LIST

I picked these pieces cause I don't think you will ever grow out of them. If you change interfaces you can still use the onyx satellite as a good 2 channel mic preamp. I have about 20k in my studio and my 2,400 digital mixer now has a street value of about 500 bucks in near perfect condition. All I can say is the less digital the better my 20k studio is now worth about 12k. This will give you building blocks to work from and if you decide its not for you you will have a lot higher resale value then blowing 500 on a new pc and the latest 96or 192k converters. To me digital should be the very last upgrade in any studio

To drop vocals over imported beats just use Audacity
the best mic you can get for $500
& spend the other $500 creating a vocal booth or treated space to record the vocals in.

You need to have a dynamic mic for hip hop...an SM7 with a line 6 ux1 preamp will include Abelton live in the bundle...best setup for hip hop without blowing more than $1000.

one of the shure's huh?
does that work better for vocals than some condensors?
i heard about people using them,,but i always had it in my mind
that they were talking about onstage
you know what
im can do that,,so as soon as i get my next daw setup
i'm going to try it cuz it is very cheap
