Which mike to use of mt two?

Hi all, I'm new to the site, I appreciate the tolerance for the newbies.
I used to record on a X15 years ago and decided to get a Fostex MR16.
The two Microphones I have are a Sure SM58 (Should I invest in a SM57?)and a AKG C 2000 B.
I will be recording mainly Acoustic Guitar, Amped Guitar, Vocals and Bass & Drums.
I do have a Dean Markley pick up for the acoustic if direct is better.
Which Mic is better for each application.
I am primarily a song writer whom wants to record originals. Did alot on the X15
I do have a fair amount of studio experiance but usually on the player side of the glass.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations. You are starting off with two excellent mics. I only have experience with the SM58 but I read up on your AKG here

The AKG mic is actually a side address SDC (Small Diaphragm Condenser) so as well as being good for vocals it is also recommended for acoustic instruments and drums.

The SM58 is very similar to an SM57 and so is good for vocals, cabinets, and snare drum.

So between the two you've got just about everything covered. Here's a couple of ideas on drums with these two mics.

Put the AKG out in front of the set and adjust the position to get a nice full kick drum without losing everything else. Then put the SM58 on the snare.

Or

Use the AKG as an overhead pointing straight down at the snare. Adjust for snare sound without losing the cymbals and toms. Put the SM58 in the kick.

I don't know if I would buy an SM57 for a third mic since you already have an SM58. I would look at a bass mic like an ATM25 or a Peavey 520i. Or for $300 plus an RE20 or an SM7. (neither of which I have because of the $300+)

Still for the price of admission either the RE20 or the SM7 would give you another vocals mic as well as kick and bass instruments, voice over, etc.. I've sung through my Peavey 520i but not yet through my ATM25. So who knows? It's certainly a good kick mic.
